Yesterday Benjamin
and I made “Aromatic Playdough”! I realized as I was setting everything
out, that we didn’t have enough salt, which definitely affected the
recipe. Oops. I also want to note that the natural scent of whole wheat
flour is overpowering and even the “white” version, isn’t particularly
white. Next time, we’ll use regular flour and salt. This way the food
coloring will really POP! You can Google “homemade playdough” for a few
different recipes to try.

Benjamin had an absolute blast! He got to
practice measuring, pouring, and mixing. Some benefits of playdough for childhood development: investigation, exploration, and fine motor
development (building up strength in the hand). We added 5 drops of Young Living essential oils to each color for a little aromatherapy.
[Teal = Peace & Calming; Fushia = Joy; Yellow = Lemon; Orange = Orange] When doing this, you get the benefits of each essential oil
as you play with it! This was such a fun hot (or rainy) day project!
