The last couple of years have been volatile, to say the least. With a pandemic still running rampant, my priorities have shifted. I’ve changed; grown up. There has been so much out of my control these last two years that it’s caused allowed me to take pause and re-evaluate my life and work. I made some major changes in 2021 and as I reflect on the year that’s passed, I feel ready as ever to set off in this new direction.
In July of 2021, after 17 years of blogging (*gasp*), I officially registered Joleen Pete, LLC. Under the umbrella of my newly minted business, I expanded my business as a blogger and freelance travel writer, to include social media management and virtual assistance. To say that I’ve learned a lot this year is an immense understatement. Every day I am challenged to improve my skills and offerings. I am loving this more supportive role and discovering that I’m quite good at it! I am thrilled to share that my income doubled over 2020 and is forecasted to increase again in 2022.
Moving Forward
With these changes in my business model and my son getting older, I am looking ahead. As I have pivoted Love, Joleen in the past, so it goes again. I want this space to reflect the stages of my life and invite you to join me as I keep it aligned with who I am today and where I’m going. Prior to now, this has been a family lifestyle and travel blog.
Going forward, I am shifting Love, Joleen to focus more on personal finances – specifically sharing my budget, debt repayment plan, savings, and journey with investing. I want this to be a place where I can be held accountable to my goals and hopefully inspire you to do the same with yours!

What You Can Expect in 2022
In 2022, I will be sharing my exact monthly budget, my money system, savings goals & progress, and beginner investing progress. I will share more about what it means to be a freelance writer, virtual assistant, and social media manager, and how you can make money doing it, too!
I will continue to share my passions such as travel, books, and being outdoors. I have several projects lined up from purging and organizing my belongings to finally completing the photo books I’ve been meaning to create for years. I am backpacking part of the Appalachian Trail. My son travels around the sun for his 10th year.
Mindfulness
This new year isn’t about “becoming my best self”, like it’s been in years past. This year is about “honoring my true self”. It’s about being honest with myself about bad habits and working through my toxic coping mechanisms to find better ways to problem solve. My one little word for 2022 is Mindfulness. In my next post, we’ll dive into my goals for 2022!
