Now that Halloween has officially and thoroughly been recapped, we’re moving right along and into November! November has become one of my very favorite months since moving to Atlanta [initially] in 2011. Autumn here is gorgeous, dahling! I met my husband that first November and we had our son one year later. November brings Thanksgiving, and I have so many blessings to be thankful for! November is the start of a very busy season for many people; a season of fellowship and entertaining. You know I have already been busy adding to my Christmas board on Pinterest, but I’m also always adding festive food ideas to my Yum! and Let’s Party! boards. For this reason, I am super excited to share today’s guest post with you! This is very reminiscent to a party punch I grew up loving, and I cannot wait to make my own grown-up version Holiday Punch! Thanks for sharing, Jenn!!

Hey there, Love, Joleen readers! I’m Jenn from Home Style Report, a DIY/home décor
blog where I occasionally attempt to be productive in the kitchen…without power
tools. When Joleen first asked me to
guest post (hey-o, thanks Joleen!) I was 10 kinds of excited but a little
stumped as to what I wanted to share with you.
Like I said, my skills in the kitchen are finely tuned when it comes to
laying tile & refinishing cabinets but its real purpose tends to elude
me. To say the microwave is my best
friend in an understatement and without the Mr. I would probably live on
spaghetti and cereal, not together of course.
However, I do occasionally have a flash of brilliance and that’s just what
happened a few days after Joleen invited me over. Don’t be scared, I promise it’s good!

In the midst of my brainstorming a topic, I came home from
work one day and mixed myself a little drink with some Izze (Blackberry) &
banana orange juice. Oh.my.word. All guest post topic searching was over with
the first sip. The carbonation cut the
creaminess of the banana orange juice beautifully. I instantly thought it would make a great
holiday drink that could be jazzed up for the adults or left plain for the
kiddos.

Even though this alone is absolutely amazing, the Izze isn’t
the most cost effective if you’re going to be entertaining the masses. It will always be my first choice if I’m just
making a little drink for myself.
However, I can’t imagine the number of 4-packs we would have to buy if
we had the Mr.’s family over, so here is a version that is a bit cheaper and
still delicious.

As far as the mixture is concerned, I prefer slightly more
cranberry soda vs. banana orange juice, especially you’re really going for
coloring and the flavor. After a little
experimenting I found that a 60/40 mixture works best. Then, just scoop some orange and/or raspberry
sherbet on top and your set!

Now if your holiday party needs a little bit of social
lubrication in the form of alcohol I found that Mandarin Vodka works the
best. Initially I was thinking along the
lines of a Champagne but it actually wasn’t as good…and I tend to get killer
headaches during and after drinking Champagne.
If you do decide to spike your punch, I added 1 shot per drink (approx.
8oz)
