Disney’s Aladdin officially hits theaters tomorrow, Friday, May 24, 2019. On a whim we happened to stop by the mall this afternoon and saw that there were several available showings this evening. We got seats in the first showing. I honestly had no idea what to expect, but this version of Disney’s Aladdin fulfilled my 90’s-child dreams for what a live action film version could look like. If you grew up in the 90’s, like I did, Aladdin just might have you grinning from ear-to-ear and clapping at the end, like me!

I know there have been a lot of opinions going around since it was announced that Will Smith would be playing the role of Genie. He killed it, ya’ll! For me, having him in the film only added to the 90’s nostalgia. Of course he’s not Robin [Williams], but let’s not compare apples to oranges. He did Genie right!

If there is one thing that outshines everything else (and I loved so much about this movie), it was the costumes! They were absolutely stunning. When Jasmine walked down the steps in this dress and train, it took my breath away. Just gorgeous.
While I didn’t love the songs original to this film, I thought they did all the originals beautifully! The music is so fun in this film, that we immediately downloaded the album in the parking lot afterward. I remember being 10 years old when I got the original soundtrack on cassette tape, and making up dances with my sister to all the songs. Tonight, we basically did the same thing in our living room with our 6 year old!
Disney’s Aladdin is a win. Take the fam this Memorial Day weekend. Download this fun activity pack for your kids to enjoy!
