Then I went through each pin to create a cohesive “inspiration sheet” that includes our color scheme, ideas, and the general party decor vibe:
In light of Maggie’s hilarious guest post earlier this week, it makes me want to laugh even more at the grand plans I’m about to share. Still, I’m that girl, so I have to at least attempt “the perfect Pinterest party”, right?? Benjamin’s birthday isn’t until November 27th but being that it falls just the day before Thanksgiving this year, we decided to throw his first birthday shindig a few weeks early. We’re now just over two weeks away! Insert panic here. Thankfully, I have great friends who’ve all basically just gone through what I’m embarking on, (Benjamin is one of the youngest in my mom’s group) so with their help and somewhere between editing photos and hosting out of town guests, I’ve come up with a plan!
Ben and I both love books and reading. We thought having the theme “Vintage Storybook” would be the perfect way to add to Benjamin’s collection and would be really cute too! The first thing I did after selecting a theme months ago, was create a Pinterest board dedicated to it (of course!). Here, I’ve pinned ideas, decor inspiration, colors I like, menu ideas, recipes, etc.
Invitations went out last week and I enlisted my husband and his youngest sister to help make some of the decorations. My best friend, Candice, sister, Aimee, and nephew, Aiden, are flying in from California to help us celebrate and to help me prepare. I’m so excited to see some of the details come together and thanks to so many unbelievably generous friends, I think it’s going to be such a special day. To take some of the pressure off of myself, I’ve hired Whitney Huynh Photography to help capture all the special details of the day! I can’t wait to share all the specifics with you, but for now you can see occasional peeks of our progress on Instagram. #benjaminturnsone
