Monsters, Inc. – He calls it “Bedas”. We could be halfway through another movie and he’ll start asking for it. We were on a Rio kick for a while but now it’s all about Bedas.
Mega Bloks – Building towers is one of Benjamin’s favorite things to do with Daddy. We have several types and sizes but these are the ones he goes for the most.
Money – Benjamin’s interest in money (“monies”) was born from a nightly tradition with Daddy. After work each day Ben will take him to put his change in the coin cup we keep on our refrigerator. Benjamin loves putting money in there! Then, recently, Target put out a bunch of back to school teacher supplies in the Dollar Spot and one of the things I snatched up was a coin purse with plastic coins and paper bills. Benjamin is really only interested in the coins, which he keeps in whatever container is available to him. Sometimes it’s a little trunk and right now it’s in a tiny plastic skillet that belongs to his toy kitchen.
We are a huge fan of Melissa and Doug products, but especially their puzzles. For Christmas, Benjamin received this Beginner Pattern Puzzle from his aunt and uncle. At 13 months old he wasn’t terribly interested in it, but it didn’t take him long to figure it out. I would say he’s been a big fan from about 18 months on. It’s still challenging for him to turn the pieces to fit, but he understands the concept and enjoys completing them. I love that so many different puzzles come in the box and that each on is double sided. [see similar]
Sunglasses – Benjamin LOVES glasses. He would prefer that he and Daddy were always wearing them. He has several pair that he wears on rotation.
Books! – Coming from book nerd parents, Benjamin really didn’t have any other option but to love them. *wink* His Vintage Storybook themed first birthday party filled his personal library with absolute gems. Three of these books are his current favorites, and those are: Brown Bear, Brown Bear, My Truck is Stuck!, and My Good Morning Book. The latter was passed down from a friend who says it was her own favorite as a child. Love that.
