Today you started First Grade! We have been homeschooling up until now, and so this is your first day of school ever. (Public school, that is.) You have literally been counting down the days, and you could hardly stay asleep last night in all your excitement. Your teacher seems really nice, and I feel confident that you are in good hands.
“Be kind and try your best.”
There are just two things I want you to remember at all times. Be kind and try your best. That’s all I expect from you. You will go so far in this life by being kind and respectful. Look for ways to bless others. Be a friend to the friendless. Use that awesome sense of humor you have to make other people laugh. Don’t be afraid to be wrong, but look for ways to always be learning. Nobody is perfect, and nobody gets everything right all the time. Just try your very best, and that’s good enough for me!
You are brave. You can do hard things. You are smart. You are so loving, and have such a beautiful soul. You are talented. You are such a goof ball, and so great at making people laugh. I am so excited to see what subjects you love and thrive in. I’m excited to watch you try new things. I’m excited to see who your friends are.
Mommy and Daddy are praying for you every day. We pray that you are safe when we’re apart. We pray that you’re provided with a great learning environment; that the other kids in your class are kind. We pray that you thrive as a student and person throughout this new season in your life.
I am so proud to be your Mommy, Benjamin. You are such an incredible blessing to me. I hope that you have a great first school year, son! I love you so much!
P.S. – I know you didn’t want me to cry, but I just can’t help it. I am so proud of you. I miss and love you so much! Can’t wait to pick you up and hear all about your first day!!
