Love, Joleen: Blogging

Do you remember when blogs were used to write about your day   what you had going on, how you were feeling, what you were inspired by or loving, etc.? I remember just writing for the sake of writing. The best thing about it was that people actually spent the time to read and comment. It wasn't fancy, and it was real. I miss that. I can't tell you how much I miss that. I started blogging in November 2004. I really can't believe I'll have been blogging for 15 years this year! I have been seeing a lot of "OG" bloggers talk about this lately, and it's been on my heart as well. When I think about what I want out of this blog, and what I have to offer, I keep coming back to where it all started. This was an outlet for me to share my endeavors (creative and otherwise) with friends and loved ones. I met so many people back then that I'm still friends with today, and I want that again.

You may have noticed that it's been crickets on Love, Joleen for the past couple of months. So much life has been lived in this time that I really can't believe that's all it's been. Lots of ups and downs. I'll be honest, it hasn't been an easy time. Several times I wanted to just hop on here and write but something was holding me back. However, I have been spending time thinking about this space, and what I'd like to see here moving forward. I plan to do more of this. I was thinking I might even challenge myself to write every day for a week or two. Just like photography or any skill really, you need practice. I feel like this is the type of exercise that would help me find my voice again.

For Christmas Ben gave me a new laptop. It was so sorely needed as my last one was barely hanging in there and rather painful to use. Haha. This is the first time I've owned a MacBook, having used a PC my entire life, and there is definitely a learning curve. I am still trying to figure out all of the shortcuts, and haven't even changed my Adobe account over yet. I'll get there! Even though I was off to a rocky start, I am looking forward to seeing how 2019 develops. This year I chose "transformation" as my word/theme. I am equal parts excited and terrified to see how these transformations come about. Something tells me they might come by fire, but I'm ready.
