My Spring Beauty Favorites

We are halfway through spring and I thought I would share my current beauty faves. I completely changed up my routine over the last couple of months and thought I would share what I'm loving!

You'll notice that theme among most of what I use is hydration and not pictured here is WATER! Every celebrity and health article  will tell you how important getting enough water every day is imperative to healthy skin and hair. The general rule is to drink half of your body weight in ounces each day. I'll admit that I haven't been in the best getting my water in (it's always so hard in the winter months!) but I've been making a real effort lately. The winter really does a number on my hair and skin so I'm so happy to have found these restorative products to bring back the shine and glow.

In March I brought my hair back to dark after a year of lightening it. As strong as my hair is, its obviously incurred some damage so right now I'm in a restorative phase. I love, love, love Shea Moisture products. My entire family has been using them for quite some time now. Their beauty, hair, and skin care products contain certified organic and natural ingredient, eco-friendly, cruelty-free, and fair trade. They're committed "to give back the goodness by supporting charitable organizations and women in under-served communities, both globally and in our community."

Honestly, the products smell incredible and we just really love them. The first thing I ever tried with the Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Cream, which I still use. I use the Kid version on Benjamin. After that, Ben and I ventured into the shampoos and conditioners. We've tried and loved several of them. He's currently using the African Water Mint and Ginger Detox & Refresh Hair and Scalp shampoo and conditioner. (Whoa. Say that 3x fast). I'm using the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil product line, which "infuses hair with intensive moisture and shine-enhancing nutrients to soften and revitalize hair while protecting distressed hair from environmental influences".
  • Manuka Honey - Anti-inflammatory properties smooth hair. Helps create a moisturizing barrier to re-hydrate hair.
  • Mafura Oil - High level of beneficial oleic acid help replenish oils stripped from hair.
  • African Rock Fig - Contains antioxidant Vitamin C, which helps keep hair looking vibrant.
I'm also loving this Raw Shea Butter Reconstructive Finishing Elixir after styling to condition and control frizz, while adding shine.

As I mentioned above, we also trust these products on our son which is huge! In addition to their hair products, he's been using Raw Shea Chamomile & Argan Oil Baby Head-To-Toe Wash & Shampoo and Manuka Honey & Provence Lavender Baby Nighttime Soothing Shampoo & Bath Milk. Both smell divine. What I also really love about these products is the price point! Typically around $10-12.
Ya'll know I love my coconut oil. I've been singing it's praises for years now. A quick Google search will show you it's many, many health benefits. I'm totally not a brand snob but I got a little label crazy with this one. I normally spend $6-8 on a jar from Target or discount stores like Marshall's or Ross. I'll be honest and tell you that I totally got suckered into buying this for the label when I saw it at Target. It was pretty spendy at $14.99. Anyhow. I've been making my own moisturizer for a while now. I fill a 2 ounce glass jar with the coconut oil, add a few drops of Vitamin E (not pictured, oops!), and 8-10 drops of Young Living Lavender, Frankincense, and Joy essential oils.
Recently I used me Essential Rewards points to purchase the NEW A.R.T. Skin Care System from Young Living. The system includes 3 skin care products:
    • A.R.T. Gentle Cleanser - Removes dirt, oil, makeup, and supports skin's natural pH balance. Feels very light and is suitable for all skin types.
    • A.R.T. Refreshing Toner - Follow the foaming cleanser with this toner to help remove excess residue and skin particles. Help pores appear smaller and create the appearance of toned skin.
    • A.R.T. Light Moisturizer - Finally, use the light moisturizer to help reduce the appearance of fine lines. It supports skin elasticity and hydrates the skin.
In addition to these I also purchased the A.R.T. Cream Masque. The products work great, smell fantastic, and the packaging is gorgeous! These are not your drug store face and skin care products and the prices definitely reflect that. It's a splurge for sure but one I'm so glad I've made! I'm hooked!
I also want to mention two other "beauty" favorites. The first is an essential oil based serum by Young Living called Progessence Plus. It's jam packed with goodness (many that I include in my DIY moisturizer) and recommended for women. Many drop it right in their moisturizer before applying to their face. I use it for different purposes and actually swipe it along my forearms each morning. It has the added bonus of smelling great and invigorating with the Peppermint, Sacred Frank, Bergamot, and Rosewood EOs it contains.

Lastly, this Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in "Seduction". Oh em gee, ya'll. I don't think I've ever loved a lipcolor as much as I'm obsessing over this one. I bought it for a birthday outing in March and have worn it ever since. I love that it is matte. It's surprisingly moisturizing and velvety. Totally not organic.

    So, there you have it!

    What are your beauty faves??

P.S. - This is super exciting because when I started this blog post, I didn't know that Young Living's May promos would offer so many of the same products! So, so good!
