“A portrait of my family, once a week, every week, in 2014”
One of my goals for 2014 is to become a better photographer. It was one of my goals in 2013 as well, and although it was one of my most successful years as a photographer to date, I don’t feel I really challenged myself as a photographer. Not intentionally anyway. This year I am going to strive to learn more about every aspect of photography. I’m going to try new things, practice, and hone my skill. I specifically want to “take less posed photos and capture more honesty”. This might sometimes mean a messy face or unmade bed. I decided that the best way to challenge myself in this would be to participate in “The 52 Project“, that so many other photographers and bloggers have done over the years. I’ve always admired the commitment. Last year, I was especially inspired by Ashley of The Stork & The Beanstalk, who chose to photograph her husband each week. As a work-at-home mother, the opportunities to photograph my son are plenty. I will really have to challenge myself to seek out opportunities to photograph my husband each week. I am excited about this project! I think it will definitely stretch me as a photographer and I’m excited to be able to look back on all the portraits I take of my family over the next 52 weeks.
