Snowmageddon 2014 | Atlanta, Georgia

If you are on social media (which hello, you probably are if you're reading this blog) or watch the news at all, you are aware of the pure and utter chaos that hit Atlanta yesterday. For the two of you not on Facebook or living in the South, you can read about it here

Before The Great Blame Game of 2014, was unadulterated excitement as [nearly] all of my stay[work]-at-home mama friends got to experience their child's first snow day! Being from Southern California, myself, I've never lived anywhere that snowed before and was absolutely thrilled!
Even though Benjamin and I weren't feeling completely well, I couldn't let the opportunity pass us by to get bundled up and experience the snow for at least three whole minutes. Benjamin definitely dug it.
That was about the extent of the fun, though, as it became painfully obvious what was unfolding in the city around us. At first I celebrated when my husband told me he was headed home just after 1:30 pm. I didn't realize that he'd be joining over a MILLION other people in their attempts to get home to their own families. What is normally a 15-25 minute commute took him SIX AND A HALF HOURS! Can you believe that? Two hours were wasted in one direction, only to discover that the road was blocked, and he had to turn around. The road conditions were scary, to say the least, and I saw more than one car on the news slide off into a ditch.

I am so incredibly thankful that Ben made it home safely-- he and his car in one piece! So many of my friends and their families had ridiculous commutes (some never even made it home until today!!) or had to pull off the road altogether to stay in a hotel lobby or big box store. The stories I'm still hearing are insane. Today was our first snow day in and it's looking like tomorrow will be the same, while they attempt to clear the roads. The weather is supposed to warm up, so hopefully all the ice and snow are melted before my mini sessions on Saturday! Today, I did venture outside to snap a few photos. Hope you're all staying warm!
